Here are some pictures Ivan was talking about on how beefy the bracing and chassis support is on the X. Hence why she is such a fatty

Here are some early pics of our Carbon/Kevlar Roof. Our standard version is just standard Carbon fiber.

Ivan just installed the Aerocatch hood pins....and he did an AWESOME job!

Here is how the car looks now:

English:
After a while, the car ended-up to get modified.. again
You can find some videos below... after that I will present you the following stages of modification (I think they don't get borred at all laugh.gif )

Here is a video of the car from the Super Lap Battle competition

First we stripped the car to bare chassis, here is a video

Cam asta a fost pe anul 2008.............
radu

English:
2009 begins.... from where it ended... I mean further with the body.. and the rest.. wink.gif biggrin.gif

With the help of Shane and Shaun, we have been able to get quite a bit of weight off the chassis. The running total of weight removed is 153 pounds in the boxes and ? pounds in the vacuum cleaner. Unfortunately, some of that weight is going to go back in (trunk floor, rear seat area floor and lower core support) but it will "net" a loss in weight.

Justin has been working on getting the cage in the car. Planning and fabricating the cage is not going as quickly as we had wanted. We are trying very hard to keep the cage to a minimum while maximizing driver protection and chassis rigidity. We are being very creative with the cage as you will soon see. Keep in mind that we need to incorporate a support for the steering column, mounts for the seat, a mount for the pedal box, and mounts for the fuel cell into the cage structure. We have had several changes in our design that have been taking up a lot of Justin's time but will be worth it in the end.

Justin and I modified the subframes to help correct suspension geometry that is changed with a lowered stance. These both came out very nice. I had to reinstall the rear suspension and make some modifications to the frame rails to get full suspension travel. I am pretty happy with the end result. A 295-35-18 tire will now tuck all the way up till the top of the wheel is even with the top of the wheel well.

I spent a bit of time trying to decide what to do with the rear doors. Doing the normal "gut and cut" is just not going to work for this car. I wanted to do pin on rear doors but I just couldn't find a good way to modify the stock rears that was tasteful. We ended up ordering new rear door skins from Mitsu and I already have one pinned in place. I am pretty pleased with the looks. The door skins are 8 lbs each so this will be a significant weight savings. I wish we could do the same for the front doors....

Justin welds on the tabs that hold the door skin in place

Here are some updates of the most recent progress on the build. Ivan, Justin, Shaun and the 2 Shanes we have here have been kicking some serious butt on the project and I can't wait till the project is finished!

Ivan and Shaun re-installign the front subframe to check for clearances.

EVO X aici in germania e intre 40 000 si 50 000 €
Caroserie cu elemente carbon, inca vreo 20-25000€
Elemente mecanice (brate, suspensie, frine, etc) iara cam 20 000€
Motor si cutie (aici e jale), cam 50 000€

Eu voi intreba oricum managerul de la AMS, dar parerea mea este ca depaseste 100 000€ (investitie in USA, fara adusul in RO).
nelutzu
radu
@Daniel

Am trimis intrebarea ta lui Rich, si astept raspunsul.

@Nelutzu

Daniel
Categoric o sa stau pe scaun biggrin.gif

Daniel

Daaaar..................
Avem noutati, si mai si biggrin.gif

Rich:
The last few days have been pretty crazy but we finally got the car all buttoned up and ready for some testing. Here are some pics of the preparations leading up to the 1st testing session:

Justin Installed suspension potentiometers.

Heat deflective materials were added under the car..

We've finalized the ducting...

The car did really well yesterday and we were able to run some pretty good times on low boost and preliminary suspension settings. We're back in the shop today making the necessary adjustments and planning to get back out on the track later on this week for more testing. So far things are looking very promising and we're looking forward to a good showing at the Redline Time Attack this weekend at the Autobahn Country club.

Hai ca cred ca imi cumpar si eu un Evo X......

radu
Asta chiar bomba huh.gif wink.gif
